Tri-County Respite Care Service seeks qualified applicants who are friendly, possess solid interpersonal skills, are attentive to detail and problem-solution oriented. This position is responsible for playing a vital and positive role in helping the clients and families we serve (Clients with developmental disabilities, brain impairment or those “at risk”) to accomplish their personal goals and achieve their fullest potential. Position requires coordinating care with primary caregivers, providing companionship, and supervising activities. The position requires demonstrated experience in a similar role and working knowledge of CPR and first aid.

Respite Care Provider staff provide support to children and adults with developmental disabilities, brain impairment, and those “at-risk” who live in their own homes.
- Must be 18 years of Age.
- Must produce proof of ability to work in the United States per the Immigration and Control Act of 1986.
- Must have a valid California Driver’s License.
- Must have reliable transportation: Vehicle must pass safety inspection and proof of current automobile insurance.
- Must have the ability to read, write, add, and subtract at least at the tenth-grade level.
- Must be able to follow directions and accurately complete all mandatory forms.
- Pass a Background Check via Live Scan.
- Evidence of a safe driving record with the DMV.
- Must have an understanding of the principles of client care and behavior modification and demonstrate ability to apply these principles as a Respite Care Provider.
- Cleared TB test.
- Completion of Adult, Child & Infant CPR and First Aid.
- A minimum of one years of experience as a Respite Worker or experience in a similar role.
- Available to work during regular business hours, but due to the nature of the work, they also might work in the evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Extensive experience in supervising and assisting clients, as well as engaging them in suitable activities.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a caring approach.
- Ability to ensure client's safety and provide comfort.
- Follow written or verbal instructions provided by the client, family, legal-guardian, or non- legal representative of the client.
- Provide clients with assistance, companionship, and comfort.
- Demonstrate respect, patience, and empathy to our clients.
- Exercise good sense and maturity.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Engage clients in suitable activities, such as socializing, playing games, or reading out loud.
- Accompanying clients on errands and outings.
